"I have been married to Maurice for fifty-four years and have three children and two grandchildren. Personal experience of coping with a son who developed uncontrollable epilepsy when very young has led me to devote more than half my life to this charity, not only by working for the Hull area Branch, but as a Trustee since 1981.
"Through fundraising, counselling and helping on holidays for people with epilepsy, I feel privileged to have met so many courageous people facing problems in their lives.
"Working for epilepsy has involved me in many other campaigns, including employment and training for young people, running card and charity shops and projects for disabled or elderly people, so I have a wide experience with many age groups and their needs. I understand the problem facing many parents if they are carers yet need to work or pursue a career, as well as the difficulties still being experienced by people with epilepsy in the workplace, or in obtaining employment.
"Presently, I am a member of the Finance and Strategic Planning Groups and in 2002 I was very honoured to receive the Lord Hastings Award for Services To Epilepsy."
