My greatest achievement is...

...not letting epilepsy get in the way of anything I plan to do.

I'm Lauren, I'm 24 and from Liverpool. I was diagnosed when I was 19, just after I finished my first year of University. I didn't know much about epilepsy and neither did my friends. It took a while to get used to; it was a big change in my life.

In my case I still live by the "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" mentality and don't let it get in the way of anything I plan to do.

In 2009 started writing a fashion blog - www.ironicfashion.com - and so many great opportunities arose from it. I was featured in Elle Magazine, Company Magazine and I was even voted number 61 in Vogue Magazine's Top 100 People Online list.

I moved to Amsterdam in 2010 to work for Nike and became the Social Media Specialist for Western Europe. Getting diagnosed kind of shook me up, but for the good. I had to stop drinking alcohol, so didn't party as much and I got my head screwed on and worked hard on the Blog and in University. I know for sure that everything I've done over the past 5 years wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been diagnosed.

Even though there are times when I think it's not fair that I've got it and none of my close friends do, I'm actually proud to say I've got epilepsy; I'm in no way ashamed of it and nobody who has it should be either.
