My greatest achievement is...

I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 3 years old. At the age of ten, I was admitted to hospital with my epilepsy. When I was in hospital it was then I decided I wanted to become a nurse. I contacted hospital after hospital to get into nurse training and every hospital I contacted in the north knocked me back. I contacted hospitals in the south and eventually was enrolled at a hospital in Essex.

I was fit free throughout my training. Just after passing my nursing exams I was put on a new medication (Epilim). I had side effects to this drug and the hospital refused to give me my pin number so I could nurse.

Being a fighter, I did not give up and fought this with my union and solicitor. I have been doing nursing for 27 years and I find this the biggest achievement of all time. My advice to anyone is - if you want something so much don’t let anything/anyone get in your way.
