On 16 June we sent an open letter to the Northern Ireland health minister Michael McGimpsey about epilepsy care in Northern Ireland.
We have received the following reply:
29th June 2009
Dear Mr Wigglesworth,
Thank you for your letter of 16 June on behalf of Epilepsy Action asking that I meet with you to discuss the services available in Northern Ireland for those suffering from epilepsy.
I hope you will understand that due to the current situation with swine flu and heavy diary pressures I am unable to accept your invitation.
Michael McGimpsey MLA
Minister for Health, Social Services and Public Safety

Says it all really doesn't it?
What a waste of space Mr McGimpsey is...this response with rubbish excuses is scandelous and unfortunately indicative of most politicians' attitude towards epilepsy sufferers. I urge everyone to write to their local MP/MLA to expose them to what living with epilepsy means and to push for improved care in all regions.
