Withdrawing and changing anti-epileptic drugs

If you withdraw your anti-epileptic drugs, this may increase the risk of a seizure happening. The Honorary Medical Advisory Panel for neurological conditions, which advises the DVLA about epilepsy, recommends that for safety, driving should stop during the period of withdrawal and for six months after withdrawal is complete. You do not need to inform the DVLA or return your licence.

If you change your medication, your doctor will advise you how long you may need to stop driving for.
