Epilepsy Action and the Information Standard

The Information Standard is a new certification scheme for health and social care information in England. The scheme was set up by the Department of Health to provide a quality mark. The Department’s research showed that eight out of ten people have tried to find health information, but most of those people were unsure what information they could trust. The Information Standard mark provides an easy way to identify quality information that you can trust.

The Information Standard certified member. This organisation has been certified as a producer of reliable health and social care information. www.theinformationstandard.orgEpilepsy Action is a founding member of the scheme and is the only epilepsy organisation to be accredited. We were delighted to be accredited in December 2009 and we are now adding the Information Standard logo to our advice and information materials and web pages. To qualify for the standard’s mark, Epilepsy Action had to meet very strict standards. The standard evaluates processes rather than individual booklets or web pages. This makes it similar to schemes like Fairtrade. If you see the quality mark you can be confident that the information comes from a reliable source.

Further information about the standard can be found at on The Information Standard website.
