About the Sutherland Trail
The Sutherland Trail is a new long distance walk and has some of the most breathtaking views in the whole of Scotland. It begins at Lochinver, a small tranquil fishing village on the west coast of Scotland and winds its way in a north easterly direction to Tongue on the north coast.
The route passes many beautiful mountains including Suilven, Canisp, and Arkle, ending under the stunning ridge of Ben Loyal. You will encounter many beautiful Lochs along the way, including Lochan Fada, lying beneath the slopes of Canisp and Loch Fleodach Coire. A variation of tracks lead you on a journey through this unique landscape.
The route of 70 miles takes five days to complete, with up to 16 miles walking on the final day.
