About the West Highland Way

One of the most spectacular long-distance walks in the UK, the West Highland Way is 152km (95 miles) long. The walk links Britain’s largest lake, Loch Lomond, with its highest mountain, Ben Nevis. This tour takes you into the majestic countryside of the Highlands of Scotland following some of Scotland’s most famous footpaths.

This wonderfully scenic five day tour has been in existence for over 25 years and links Milngavie, on the outskirts of Glasgow, to Fort William.

The route is one of varied scenery including views of the Campsie Hills and the magnificentLoch Lomond. Fantastic views ofScotland’s grandest mountains can be seen includingBen Nevis, Glen Coe and Ben Dorain. Much of the Way follows ancient and historic routes of communication, using drove roads, military roads and old coaching roads. The walk takes you through lowland moors and woodland to rolling hills and high mountainous regions. It provides a fantastic opportunity to see a diverse range of wildlife species, both flora and fauna.

The route takes six days to complete - the average distance walked each day is 12-14 miles, with two longer days of 19 miles and 21 miles.
