We exist to improve the lives
of everyone affected by epilepsy

Epilepsy Action’s weekend for all, Friday 9–Sunday 11 November 2012, London

Baden Powell House, South Kensington, London

People with epilepsy and their families are invited to take part in our new ‘weekend for all’ event. It’s the perfect opportunity to get away, relax and have fun while learning more about epilepsy and meeting other people and families affected by the condition.

There will be advice on offer from a range of experts who can answer all your epilepsy-related questions, as well as several informal workshops and a variety of social activities.

Topics covered will include childhood epilepsy, medication, benefits, alternative treatments, transition services and living with epilepsy. Epilepsy specialist nurses, doctors and members of the Epilepsy Action team will all be on hand to provide information, advice and support. One to one support from epilepsy specialist nurses is also available.

There will be the opportunity to meet new friends and find out how other people cope with living with epilepsy. You will also have the chance to relax by taking part in massage and reflexology sessions.

Other activities on offer will include:

  • Workshops – a variety of workshops covering topics such as transition, pregnancy planning, the ketogenic diet, achievement, memory and benefits, use of rescue medications, practical demonstrations on first aid for seizures.
  • Creative and learning sessions – families can get to know each other while making greetings cards and learn how to make best use of the internet when searching for accurate and up-to-date epilepsy information.
  • Games and social activities – children and young people can show their competitive side in games including swingball, pool and table football, and everyone can take part in an all-ability cycling workshop.

There will also be free time to take in the sights and sounds of London.

Accommodation is available at Baden Powell House at a total cost for accommodation and attendance at the weekend events of £50 per person for the weekend. Children aged 16 and under are free of charge (when accompanied by a paying adult).

If you’d prefer not to stay at the venue the cost of the weekend is £25 per person.
