The challenge
The challenge is to reach the foot of the world's highest mountain, and if you have enough energy, to reach the summit of Kala Patthar 5,545 metres (18,192 feet), a fantastic mountain located near Everest Base Camp. This will give you the best views of this majestic peak.
This world renowned classic trek from Lukla to Kala Patthar takes you through the world’s highest mountain range and includes the most breathtaking mountain scenery ever imaginable.
Eight of the world's 14 highest peaks over 8,000m are found in the Nepalese Himalayas. This challenge takes you to a staggering altitude of 5,545 metres (18,192 feet) with amazing views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse and the list of peaks goes on.......it is pure Himalayan magic!
Itinerary
Day 1
Depart from the UK for an overnight flight to Kathmandu.
Day 2
Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Free time to explore and refresh after flight.
Day 3
Day of sightseeing around Kathmandu, taking in Boudhanath Stupa - the biggest Buddhist shrine in the world!
Day 4
Fly to Lukla. Trek to Phakding - 2,650 metres (8,694 feet).
Day 5
Trek to Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar - 3,400 metres (11,155 feet).
Day 6
Acclimatisation day in Namche Bazaar. Optional trek to Sagamartha National Park Headquarters to help acclimatise.
Day 7
Trek Namche Bazaar to Khumjung - 3,795 metres (12,451 feet).
Day 8
Trek to Tyangboche - 3,867 metres (12,687 feet). Visit the amazing monastery.
Days 9
Trek to Dingboche - 4,350 metres (14,272 feet).
Day 10
Acclimatisation day in Dingboche. Optional trek to the summit of a peak surrounding the town - highly recommended!
Day 11
Trek Lobuje to Everest Base Camp - 5,280 metres (17,323 feet). Then trek to, and overnight in, Gorak Shep.
Day 12
Lobuje to Everest Base Camp, then return to Gorak Shep.
Day 13
Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar - 5,545 metres (18,192 feet). Trek to Pheriche - 4,245 metres (13,927 feet).
Day 14
Trek to Namche Bazaar - 3,400 metres (11,155 feet).
Day 15
Trek to Lukla - 2,650 metres (8,694 feet).
Day 16
Fly to Kathmandu. Free time to explore, or rest!
Day 17
Free day to enjoy the Nepalese capital, and to take in the many shops!
Day 18
Leave Kathmandu and fly to the UK.
