The Challenge
The Yorkshire Three Peaks 12 hour challenge takes place in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The park is dominated by the wild peaks of Pen-y-ghent (694 metre), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres).
The challenge is to follow a circular route of 25 miles over these three peaks in 12 hours. The start and finish are situated in the picturesque village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale.
Participants will need to have a good level of basic fitness and stamina - this is nearly the same distance as a marathon! You will be walking on some very boggy and uneven ground and should have some basic walking experience. You will need to be well prepared for a rapid change in weather conditions.
