I was diagnosed with epilepsy about seven years ago. My doctors asked me about the frequency of my seizures, which were always about four weeks apart. I was told by one GP, “Things don’t happen like that.” Another called me ‘a stupid old woman’. Luckily, I had been a nurse for over 40 years – so I was used to temperamental doctors!
