Keppra update
Submitted by Mark@Epilepsy Action on 25 January, 2010 - 16:27.
There have been a number of media reports recently highlighting a shortage of Keppra in the UK.
We are in contact with UCB, who make Keppra, about this issue. They have advised that they are supplying more than enough Keppra to the UK market. The problem lies with parallel exporting, where Keppra is sold abroad for profit.
UCB have said that pharmacists can order stock directly by fax from the distributor if they cannot get stock through a wholesaler. You can download this form for your pharmacist to complete and fax to the distributor. Please only use this if your pharmacist cannot get stock from a wholesaler.
If you have any questions about this issue, call our epilepsy helpline on freephone 0808 800 5050.
