Likely Keppra supply problems

21 February, 2011

UCB, the manufacturers of anti-epileptic drug Keppra, have told Epilepsy Action that there are likely to be problems supplying Keppra in the next few weeks in the UK.

You may also know Keppra by its generic name, levetiracetam.

We are told UCB are doing all that they can to keep a constant supply of the drug, but there could be shortages over the next four to eight weeks.

UCB have allowed us to put this form on our website [PDF]. This form should only be used by pharmacists if the situation is urgent and the pharmacist needs supplies for the next day. You should not use this form if you take Keppra.

If you are down to your last few days of Keppra, please let your pharmacist know. They can order supplies of Keppra through their normal channels. If you will run out of Keppra tomorrow, and your pharmacist does not have any Keppra, he or she can use the form to order a limited supply.
