Famous moustache raises money for epilepsy

One of President Obama’s senior advisers, David Axelrod, is famous for his moustache. Even his wife of 33 years has never seen him without it. But he has promised to shave it off if he can raise $1 million for epilepsy research by 30 November.

David and his wife Susan are very familiar with what it’s like to live with epilepsy, as their daughter has the condition. If he is successful in his fundraising, he has pledged the money to Chicago-based Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE). Susan Axelrod co-founded CURE.

He had earlier promised to shave it off if President Obama didn’t win the election in Michigan, Minnesota or Pennsylvania. As we now know, the moustache was safe!
