Epilepsy Action is looking for women to describe the care and support they have received from health professionals. This includes any information you have received on a range of different women’s issues, such as pregnancy and the menopause.

Epilepsy Action’s An ideal world for women 2012 survey is aimed at women with epilepsy aged over 16 years. It asks questions about things like changes in seizure patterns and the effects of anti-epileptic drugs.

Nicole Crosby-McKenna is Epilepsy Action’s campaigns and policy officer (welfare and women). Nicole said: “We did the survey in 2007 and found some quite alarming statistics. Many women said they were still not receiving preconception counselling or specialist antenatal care during pregnancy. They also said they felt that epilepsy care is not to the standard of national guidelines. Now, we want to know if the situation has changed – and whether levels of care and support have improved five years on.”

To share your views, fill in the survey online at www.epilepsy.org.uk/campaigns/awareness/idealworldforwomen
