An Oxfordshire woman, who has epilepsy, is preparing to put the kettle on as part of Epilepsy Action’s National Tea Break. Jenny Mateo has organised a tea break to celebrate her birthday and help raise funds for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation.

Hingham woman pulls on her walking shoes for epilepsy charity

A Hingham woman is preparing to pull on her walking shoes to support Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

Mary Graydon has organised an Epilepsy Action Wonga Walk at Whitlingham Broad at 10.30am on Sunday 15 May. The 2.5 mile Wonga Walk will start at Whitlingham Little Broad car park. Mary, a retired epilepsy specialist nurse, has organised a walk for Epilepsy Action in Norfolk for several years and hope around 80 walkers will join in this year. She hopes to continue her campaign to raise awareness of epilepsy by continuing to fundraise for Epilepsy Action.

A  Stowmarket woman, who has epilepsy, is taking on the 25-mile Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge. Jayne Cage will be raising vital funds for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

Jayne, 39, will take on the 12-hour challenge in the Yorkshire Dales National Park on Saturday 17 July. Jayne will follow a circular route of 25 miles, climbing Pen-y-ghent (694 metre), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), all in a single day.

Nicki Garrard, stalwart of the Sudbury Branch of Epilepsy Action, has won a national award in recognition of her work for the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

Epilepsy Action’s national manager for regional services, Sue Blake, presented the Epilepsy Action Branch Member of the Year Award to Nicki. The presentation took place on 26 June at 3pm, at the Ivy House Country Hotel, Ivy House, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft.

Peterborough man walks his way to charity ‘wonga’

A Peterborough man is preparing to raise serious ‘wonga’ for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

Roger Stimson has organised an Epilepsy Action Wonga Walk through Nene Park, Ferry Meadows, Peterborough from 9.30am on Sunday 4 July. It is hoped 80 walkers will complete the six- mile route, which starts and finishes at Rivergate (outside Asda).

Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting a seminar for anyone with an interest in epilepsy.

The event, funded by the Anglia Co-operative, will take place on Saturday 26 June at the Ivy House Country Hotel, Ivy Lane, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, and is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.
