Saltaire reindeer run for epilepsy charity

A stampede of reindeer is set to take over Saltaire this festive season, as national charity Epilepsy Action launches the second ever Reindeer Stampede. The 5k fun run will raise funds to support the 600,000 people affected by epilepsy in the UK.

Epilepsy Action’s Harrogate Branch holds information evening

The Harrogate Branch of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting an information evening for women with epilepsy.

The event will take place on Wednesday 14 September 2011 at The Majestic Hotel, Ripon Road, Harrogate, from 7.00pm until 8.45pm. It is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy, but will be of particular interest to women with epilepsy.  There will be an opportunity to take away epilepsy information on a range of subjects. 

Calder Valley urged to go the extra mile for Alice

Epilepsy Action, the UK's largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is urging the people of the Calder Valley to lace up their running shoes and take part in Alice's Run. The run is a 10k multi-terrain race through the Calder Valley on Sunday 4 September. It will raise vital funds to support the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.

Boston Spa man goes the extra mile for epilepsy charity

A Boston Spa man, who has epilepsy, is preparing to lace up his running shoes to complete the Bupa Great North Run. Paul Hill is taking part in aid of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation.

Paul, 34, will attempt the prestigious 13.1 miles through Tyneside on Sunday 18 September to help support the 456,000 people with epilepsy in the UK. Paul’s sister has had epilepsy for 20 years. In 2009, Paul was also diagnosed with the condition after having several seizures.

A Bradford man, whose niece has epilepsy, is preparing to lace up his running shoes to complete the Bupa Great North Run. Richard Sykes will take part in aid of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation.

Richard Sykes, who lives in Clayton, will attempt the prestigious 13.1 miles through Tyneside on Sunday 18 September to help support the 456,000 people with epilepsy in the UK. Richard has chosen to take part for Epilepsy Action because his youngest niece, Molly, who will be three by the time of the run, has epilepsy.

Huntcliff School pupils win national doodling award

Staff and pupils at Huntcliff School, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, have beaten off competition from 220 other schools and colleges to be crowned category winners of National Doodle Day 2011. 

Pupils and staff were encouraged to draw a doodle and submit it into the annual National Doodle Day competition. The competition gives schools the chance to win vouchers to spend on equipment and resources, while also raising money for national charity Epilepsy Action.

Huntcliff School’s winning doodle was drawn by year 8 pupil Isabella Lince. The school has been awarded with a £250 voucher to spend on equipment and resources.  The winning doodle is also displayed in the Doodle Hall of Fame on the National Doodle Day website.

Todmorden fashion show for epilepsy charity

A Todmorden events company is hosting a charity fashion show to raise funds for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

Royle Events will host a wedding-themed ‘Real Runways’ fashion show and after-party from 7.30pm on Friday 20 May at Border Rooms, Venue Nightclub in Todmodern. The event will also act as the official launch of Royle Events, an events company set up in November 2010 by Jo Royle.

Walk for epilepsy in Harrogate

Epilepsy Action’s Harrogate Branch are organising a sponsored walk to celebrate National Epilepsy Week, and to raise funds for an epilepsy specialist nurse in Harrogate. 

The walk will take place at 11am on Sunday 15 May from Valley Gardens in Harrogate. Walkers will meet at the Magnesia Well.
