Nicki Garrard, stalwart of the Sudbury Branch of Epilepsy Action, has won a national award in recognition of her work for the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.
Epilepsy Action’s national manager for regional services, Sue Blake, presented the Epilepsy Action Branch Member of the Year Award to Nicki. The presentation took place on 26 June at 3pm, at the Ivy House Country Hotel, Ivy House, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft.
Nicki, a dedicated member of the Sudbury branch, has been active in helping those with epilepsy through her devoted commitment to Epilepsy Action and its work.
Sue Blake said: “Nicki has put great efforts into building up services for people with epilepsy in her area. She is passionate about increasing support throughout Suffolk for people with epilepsy and was key in the successful award of £6,000 from the Anglia Co-operative to improve our services in the area. All of this is alongside Nicki’s work as an Epilepsy Action accredited volunteer, and work for other charities, while dealing with her own health issues. We have so little cover in this part of the region, Nicki’s drive and enthusiasm have made, and will continue to make, an enormous difference to our work.”
Nicki, said: “I was surprised, but delighted to win this award. I hope our work across East Anglia continues to go from strength to strength.”
