A one-day conference on epilepsy, aimed at anyone with an interest in the condition, will take place in Southend on April 28 2007.
The event is being organised by the UK’s leading member-led epilepsy charity, Epilepsy Action, and its Essex forum, and will take place from 9.30am until 4.00pm at The Cliffs Pavilion, Westcliff on Sea.
The theme of the conference is Epilepsy and You and it is supported by the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill.
A wide range of epilepsy experts will be taking part including Dr Elaine Hughes, paediatric neurologist; Dr Greg Rogers, GP with a special interest in epilepsy, talking about where general practice fits in to providing care for epilepsy; Frank La Rocca, epilepsy specialist nurse; Andy Mison, talking about his personal perspective on epilepsy; Dr Mohammed Sharief, neurologist; and Tricia Papendick, an accredited volunteer talking about her personal involvement.
David Powell, Epilepsy Action’s regional services manager for Central England, said:
“It’s a great opportunity to hear from and meet epilepsy experts from all over the UK and there will be time allotted at the end for people to put their questions.”
The price of the conference tickets are £10.00 for members of Epilepsy Action; £12.00 for non members; £6.50 for concessionary rate, people who are in full time education, in receipt of benefits or on a state pension. Membership of Epilepsy Action can be purchased along with entrance to the conference for a special price of £27.00; or a concessionary membership of Epilepsy Action including concessionary conference fee of £17.50
