Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting a seminar for anyone with an interest in epilepsy.
The event, funded by the Anglia Co-operative, will take place on Saturday 26 June at the Ivy House Country Hotel, Ivy Lane, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, and is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.
The seminar will cover many aspects of epilepsy. The programme includes a talk on children and families living with epilepsy by paediatric epilepsy specialist nurse, Helen Paytner, from Gorleston-on-Sea, and a personal account of living with epilepsy by branch officer, Nikki Garrard. The regional service manager, Julie Clark, will be talking about the work of Epilepsy Action in the local area, and there will be a chance to take information away and talk to others who may have been through similar experiences. Details of local branch meetings will also be available.
Julie Clark, regional services manager for central England, said: “This seminar will offer anyone with an interest in epilepsy a chance to learn more about the condition. There will be a chance for people to talk about their own experiences and issues at the end of the seminar.”
Anglia Co-operative's Retail Executive, Andy Simpson said: "The money was donated from the Anglia Co-operative Community Fund, which raises money for worthy local causes. Customers generously donate their membership points into the community fund and a committee decides which causes should receive a donation. We are thrilled that the money donated to Epilepsy Action is being used to fund a seminar that will not only raise awareness, but also provide advice and support about the condition."
Seats are limited so to book a place please contact Joanne Baker on 0113 210 8800. Tickets cost £6.00 (or £4.00 concessions) and include tea and coffee. If you would like further information, please contact Julie Clark on 01684 833 834 (mobile: 07770 837970), or email jclark@epilepsy.org.uk
