Friends Kevin Davey and David Hedley from Cambridge are taking part in this year’s BUPA Great North Run in aid of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation.
The race, which is the world’s biggest half marathon, will take place on Sunday 30 September starting in Newcastle and finishing 13.1 miles later in South Shields.
Kevin says: “David has run for Epilepsy Action for the past few years. As my son Kaiden has epilepsy I thought that this year it was about time I joined him – at least for the first mile! I think the atmosphere on the day will be very special and it will be an honour to be surrounded by so many people doing their bit for charity.”
David says: “I always find the day of The Great North Run very enjoyable, the whole experience of running for charity is a really great feeling and it will be even better this year having Kevin run with me, as long as he can keep up!”
The money raised by Kevin and David will help fund vital advice and information services provided by Epilepsy Action, which directly helps more than 660,000 people every year. The charity has a network of branches across the UK and an award-winning website, www.epilepsy.org.uk.
