Fundraising ‘Out in the Open’ For Epilepsy Action (Norfolk)

2 May, 2008

Mary Graydon from Norfolk is helping to bring epilepsy ‘Out in the Open’ by holding a sponsored walk in aid of Epilepsy Action.

The event will take place around the Norfolk broads and walkers will be meeting at 10.30am at Little Whitlingham Broad Car Park on Sunday May 18. Last year 70 people took part, and this year it's hoped that many more will join the two and a half mile walk.

It is just one of the many ‘Out in the Open’ sponsored walks being held across the country to raise funds and celebrate National Epilepsy Week (18-24).

Mary, a retired Sapphire epilepsy specialist nurse, said: “This is a fun walk for all the family and can include all ages and abilities. The route can accommodate pushchairs and wheelchairs, and dogs are also welcome!”

Epilepsy Action needs to recruit as many walkers and walk organisers as possible if it is to reach this year’s fundraising target of £45,000.  More information can be found at http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/wongawalks.

The money raised will help fund the vital advice and information services provided by Epilepsy Action. Last year alone the organisation directly helped over 731,000 people through a range of services including its Epilepsy Helpline, advice and information centre, and branch network.
