Volunteers from Epilepsy Action’s Peterborough branch will be helping to bring epilepsy “Out in the Open” by taking part in a local sponsored walk.
On Sunday May 27 members and friends of the Sikh Temple Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara will be walking approximately six miles through the Nene Park with a team-made real curry lunch break. The walk will start at 9.30am from outside Asda at the Rivergate Centre and around 80 people are expected to take part.
The walk is just one of many happening throughout the UK to celebrate National Epilepsy Week (20 - 26 May). Nationwide, thousands of people will be walking to bring epilepsy into the open and to raise vital funds for Epilepsy Action.
Roger Stimson, treasurer of the Epilepsy Action Peterborough branch, says: “To walk through the beautiful Nene Park on a May morning and be raising much needed funds for research, support and help for those with epilepsy, the most common serious neurological condition, what more can one ask? Come out and join us, everyone is welcome”.
If you would like to take part in the Peterborough branch walk please contact Roger Stimson on 01733 260706
Epilepsy Action needs to recruit as many walkers and walk organisers as possible if it is to reach this year’s overall fundraising target of £50,000. More information can be found at http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/wongawalks
The money raised will help fund vital advice and information services provided by the charity. Epilepsy Action has a network of branches across the UK and now directly helps more than 550,000 people every year.
