A Lowestoft mum and her teenage daughter, who has epilepsy, are hosting a sponsored fun run for charity. Sylvia and Danni Warner have organised a run around Normanston Park, Lowestoft, on Monday 27 August , to raise funds for national charity Epilepsy Action. The charity provides advice and support to the 600,000 people with epilepsy in the UK.
Sylvia and Danni have organised the event as 14 year-old Danni has epilepsy. They hope the event will raise money for Epilepsy Action as well as raise awareness of the condition. Sylvia and Danni are asking runners to wear purple – the international colour for epilepsy – at the event.
Sylvia, 42, said: “My daughter Danni has developed epilepsy and I would like to do something to help others and improve awareness of the condition. We have had a very heart wrenching past year coming to terms with epilepsy. I hope the event is a huge success so we can help others with epilepsy and my daughter can gain back her confidence.”
The event takes place at 11am on Monday 27 August at Normanston Park, Lowestoft. For more information, or to take part, contact Sylvia on 07876 295 413. Everyone is welcome.
All proceeds will go to Epilepsy Action. The money raised by will help to support the charity’s work all over the UK. Epilepsy Action campaigns to improve epilepsy services and raise awareness of epilepsy. It also provides a national network of support groups, funds a specialist nurse scheme, holds regular regional conferences and has a freephone and email helpline.
Epilepsy affects around one in every 100 people in the UK and 87 people are diagnosed with the condition every day. Last year Epilepsy Action directly helped 1.1 million people through its range of services.
