Relaxation and support for people with epilepsy in Bury St Edmunds

24 May, 2012

Epilepsy Action West Suffolk Branch, part of the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting a relaxation event to celebrate its launch.

It will take place on Saturday 2 June from 10.30am to 4.00pm at Quaker Meeting House, St John’s Street, Bury St Edmunds. Admission is free and refreshments are available.

The event is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy. There will be complementary therapy taster sessions to aid relaxation and stress relief. There will also be talks by health professionals about epilepsy.

The aim of the new Epilepsy Action West Suffolk Branch is to provide monthly meetings and support anyone affected by epilepsy or with an interest in the condition.

Julie Clark, Epilepsy Action’s manager for central England, said: “This group has been started up by Lynda Topalian, epilepsy specialist nurse with West Suffolk Healthcare. Lynda has given a great deal of time to get the group going. We hope many local people who have epilepsy, or care for someone with epilepsy, will find it a great resource. This event is  a great way for people to meet group members and find out more about it. Plus, there will be epilepsy information available and they get the chance to experience complementary therapy to relieve the stresses of living with a long term condition. It’s free and everyone is welcome to drop in.

The West Suffolk Branch meets on the first Saturday of each month from 10am until 12pm at West Suffolk Disability Resource Centre, 4 Bunting Road, Bury St Edmunds.
