Wisbech woman shows her generosi-tea

15 October, 2009

A Wisbech woman, who has epilepsy, is preparing to put the kettle on for Epilepsy Action's National Tea Break on Friday 23 October. Nicola Jenner, from Walpole St Andrew, has organised a tea break to raise vital funds for Epilepsy Action, the UK largest member-led epilepsy organisation.

The event will take place in the peaceful Walpole Water Gardens, Chalk Road, Walpole St Peter between 10.00am and 5.00pm. Nicola's event, which will include a craft stall, tea and a selection of cakes, has been organised as part of Epilepsy Action’s seventh National Tea Break. National Tea Break aims to raise vital funds to help support the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.

Nicola, 45, said: "I have epilepsy myself and know a few other people affected by the condition. I want to raise awareness of epilepsy and hope I can help make a difference. I also want to raise as much as possible for Epilepsy Action – last year we raised £205 for National Tea Break, so I am aiming to top that this year.

"Walpole Water Gardens are lovely and calm, so are the perfect venue for a relaxing cuppa. I hope people in Wisbech and the surrounding area will come along to support the event."

Hundreds of people from all over the UK will take part in the annual event. Since 2003, 800 Tea Breaks have taken place, raising an impressive £88,000 to help fund the vital information and advice services provided by Epilepsy Action. This year the charity hopes to make National Tea Break the biggest yet and break the £100,000 barrier.
