A Northampton man, whose nephew has epilepsy, is taking part in the Helly Hansen Adventure Challenge to raise funds for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.
Russell Dickerson, 39, will be joined by five of his colleagues in taking on the challenge through Grizedale Forest in the Lake District on Sunday 21 March. The challenge will include a 25 kilometre mountain-bike ride, a 1.5 kilometre kayaking and 10 kilometre run.
Russell said: “My nephew has epilepsy - when it first manifested itself, it was very frightening for the family. It is not a well known or publicised condition yet epilepsy can be very debilitating. The support received from Epilepsy Action really made a difference.
“I’m really looking forward to trying something different and having some fun with my work colleagues, as well as raising money for Epilepsy Action of course!”
Russell and his team hope to raise over £2,000 to help support the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.
