London runners urged to take on half marathon challenge for epilepsy charity

30 July, 2012

Epilepsy Action, the UK’s leading epilepsy organisation, is urging runners across London to lace up their running shoes to take part in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon. The charity has guaranteed places for the 13.1 mile run, which takes place in central London on Sunday 7 October.

Starting and finishing in Hyde Park, 12,500 runners will wind their way through four Royal Parks (Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St James’s Park and Green Park). Runners also have the opportunity to take in views of the capital city and some of its historic landmarks. These include Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Houses of Parliament and the Royal Albert Hall.

Anyone interested in taking part in the event for Epilepsy Action should contact Katie Stocks on 0113 210 8800 or email events@epilepsy.org.uk The closing date for entries is Friday 17 August.

Epilepsy affects around one in every 100 people in the UK alone and 87 people are diagnosed with the condition every day. Last year Epilepsy Action directly helped 1.1 million people through its range of services.
