A London woman is in training to run the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon in aid of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.
Shadia Hameed from Camberwell will be joining hundreds of people from all over the UK to run through central London on Sunday October 12, in a bid to help support the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.
The route runs through the four royal parks of London, including Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James's Park, and along the River Thames. The run also takes in many of the city’s iconic landmarks, such as the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace.
Shadia, who used to work for Epilepsy Action as the Assistant Fundraiser, said: “I am taking part in the half marathon as it will be a real personal challenge for me and I hope to raise as much sponsorship as possible for the charity. I’m most looking forward to getting the training over and done with and just enjoying completing the race!”
Epilepsy Action has a huge variety of fundraising events you can get involved in, whether you’re an elite athlete or a complete beginner. These events can be a fun and exciting challenge with the added bonus of making a difference to people living with epilepsy. To find out more go to http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/involved/index.html
