A night to remember in aid of Epilepsy Action

17 July, 2008

A Sixth Form Leavers Ball has raised around £1500 for the UK’s leading member-led epilepsy charity, Epilepsy Action. The Ball, held for St George’s School, Ascot took place at the National School of Government in Ascot on Friday 4 July.

The event was held in honour of a past pupil who sadly passed away following a seizure. The students had chosen to fundraise for Epilepsy Action because they wanted to raise awareness of epilepsy.

Extreme Design of Sunningdale provided a champagne reception, before pupil Sarah Middleton, greeted guests with her bag pipes and led them to dinner. The entertainment didn’t stop there! Woodstock of Ascot donated a huge floor cushion for the Shisha lounge on the balcony, and guests were treated to a performance after dinner by singer, Shea Rafferty. The school leavers received goody bags, packed with generous donations from Fake Bake, Green and Blacks, and Love One Water. Donations from Maya, (‘Voted Best New Club’ at the London Bar and Club Awards 2008) set the charity auction off to a great start.

Fee Lentle, music manager and mother of two St George’s pupils, organised the ball. She said: “We had overwhelming support from Maya, who sponsored the event and hosted the party, Fake Bake, Green and Blacks, and Love One Water. I would just like to thank everyone who contributed to making the ball a huge success. We managed to raise quite a bit of money for Epilepsy Action, as well as having a fabulous time!”

Samantha from Maya said: “We do a lot of work with Fee, and will be in future. We knew Fee really wanted to raise money for this charity.”

The money raised by the Sixth Form Leavers will help fund the vital advice and information services provided by Epilepsy Action. Last year alone the organisation directly helped over 731,000 people through a range of services including its Epilepsy Helpline, advice and information centre, branch network and award winning website www.epilepsy.org.uk
