Bradford company Sovereign Health Care has pledged its support to this year's Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k road race. The event, which takes place on Sunday 21 March, raises money for national charity Epilepsy Action to help support people with epilepsy.
Sovereign Health Care has supported Epilepsy Action for 23 years by making annual donations through their charitable trust. Since 1987, the Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust has donated over £59,000 to Epilepsy Action. This year Sovereign Health Care has donated £10,000 – their largest single donation to the charity to date – to help support the Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k.
Di Flatt, fundraising manager at Epilepsy Action, said: "The team at Sovereign Health Care has given fantastic support to Epilepsy Action through their charitable trust over the past 23 years. We are absolutely delighted that the company has now chosen to support the Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k. The money will be used to help run our fundraising event and ultimately support the 456,000 people with epilepsy across the UK."
Russ Piper, chief executive at Sovereign Health Care, said: “We are very proud of our longstanding connection with Epilepsy Action. This is the first time that we have been involved with the 10k road race; it is fantastic, in terms of the money that will be raised for such a deserving cause, but also for the city of Bradford.
“Events such as this bring the community together and encourage people to adopt an active lifestyle, which can only be a good thing!”
Entry for the third annual Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k is now open. All runners will start and finish the race at the picturesque Centenary Square based in the heart of Bradford city centre. The route for the race is mostly flat and will be closed to all traffic. This means it’s the perfect race for first timers to test their running shoes and for elite runners to achieve their personal best times.
There are fantastic prizes to be won for both males and females placed first, second and third, and for winners of the veterans' categories. A free T-shirt will be provided for anyone who successfully completes the race. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and during the course of the race to keep the runners at their best.
The Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k is also supported by Bradford Council’s ‘B-Active’ campaign, the Bradford Telegraph & Argus and Airedale Athletics.
Entry costs £16, or £14 for runners affiliated to a UK athletics running club. To find out how to take part, visit www.epilepsy.org.uk/involved/bradford10k, or call the fundraising team on 0113 210 8800
