Hollyoaks actress Carley Stenson is urging people to put their walking boots on and get ‘Out in the Open’ to raise money for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s leading member led epilepsy charity.
Epilepsy Action is holding its annual nationwide ‘Out in the Open’ sponsored walks on Sunday May 20 2007 to mark the beginning of National Epilepsy Week. The charity needs to recruit as many walkers and walk organisers as possible to reach this year’s fundraising target of £50,000.
Carley Stenson, whose character Stephanie Dean in Hollyoaks has epilepsy, is supporting the walks. She said; “Organising an Out in the Open walk is a great way to raise money for Epilepsy Action while having fun with friends and family. All you need to do is organise a walk in your local area…long, short, big or small. Every penny you raise will make a difference to the 456,000 people in the UK with epilepsy.”
Everyone who organises a walk will be eligible for a free ‘Out in the Open’ walk t-shirt, recently launched by Carley Stenson.
Anyone can organise a walk and they can take place anywhere, from city centres to national parks, with just a handful to hundreds of walkers. For more information on organising or taking part in a walk contact the Epilepsy Action fundraising team on 0113 210 8800 or email funding@epilepsy.org.uk
