Epilepsy Action, the UK's largest member-led epilepsy charity, is urging runners to join its team and step up to the challenge of this year's BUPA Great North Run.
The event will take place on Sunday October 5 and there are still a few places left. The run is one of the world's most popular half marathons, going from the centre of Newcastle to South Shields on the UK's North East Coast.
Philippa Corner, Epilepsy Action's events manager, said: "The BUPA Great North Run has proved a very successful event for Epilepsy Action in years gone by, helping to raise over £100,000 to support people affected by epilepsy. We need to recruit as many runners as possible to help make this year's event just as successful.
"If you are interested in taking part in the run on behalf of Epilepsy Action, all we ask is that you aim to raise £275 sponsorship and pay a £40 registration fee for your place. For this you will receive a guaranteed place in the marathon, a free Epilepsy Action running vest and a unique Epilepsy Action goodie bag!"
You can sign up for an Epilepsy Action Great North Run guaranteed place by simply logging on to www.epilepsy.org.uk or calling Philippa Corner on 0113 210 8800. The closing date for entries is Friday July 25, so hurry and secure your place today!
Epilepsy Action is a registered charity that helps over 731,000 people every year through its advice and information services. Epilepsy is a neurological condition which affects people of all ages and walks of life. One in every 131 people in the UK has epilepsy.
