Have a diamond cuppa for chari-tea

1 October, 2010

National charity Epilepsy Action is urging tea drinkers across the UK to have a diamond cuppa as part of National Tea Break 2010. The annual event coincides with the charity’s 60th anniversary diamond jubilee celebrations.

This year's event, on Friday 22 October, marks the eighth time running for the grand scale tea party. National Tea Break encourages tea lovers to get together to help raise vital funds for Epilepsy Action, simply by drinking tea and eating cake.

Since 2003, over 950 Tea Breaks have taken place, raising almost £100,000 to help fund the vital information and advice services provided by Epilepsy Action.

Michael White, fundraising events officer at Epilepsy Action, said: "As a nation of tea drinkers, we hope people nationwide will help us celebrate this very British tradition and host a tea break. It’s a great way to get together and have fun with friends, family and colleagues, while raising vital funds for a great cause. Don’t worry if you can't hold a tea break on 22 October; just choose a day that best suits you.

“The money raised from National Tea Break will help support the 456,000 people with epilepsy in the UK.”
