Last chance to sign up for Bradford 10k charity road race

9 March, 2010

There are only a few days left to sign up for the Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k road race, which takes places on Sunday 21 March. The annual event has just been voted one of the top five most personal-best friendly races in the UK by Runners World magazine readers.

Epilepsy Action is urging anyone wanting to take part in the race to sign up before the deadline on Sunday 14 March to ensure a place. Almost 1,000 people have already signed up for the event, with many more expected.

The race will start at 9am and will start and finish at the picturesque Centenary Square in the heart of Bradford city centre. The route is mostly flat and will be closed to all traffic, making it the perfect race for both first timers and elite runners.

There are fantastic prizes to be won for both males and females placed first, second and third as well as for winners of the veterans' categories. A free T-shirt will be awarded to anyone who successfully completes the race. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and during the course of the race to keep runners at their best.

Katie Stocks, fundraising officer at Epilepsy Action, said: “Once again we’re overwhelmed with the support for this event from people in Bradford. We’re encouraging anyone who is keen to secure a place to log on to our website and sign up before the deadline on 14 March.

“If running isn’t for you, there are plenty of other ways to get involved and help out on the day including marshalling. Please contact the events team on 0113 210 8800 for more information.”

The Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k is supported by Sovereign Health Care, Bradford Council’s ‘B-Active’ campaign, the Bradford Telegraph & Argus, Fitness First and Airedale Athletics.

Entry costs £16, or £14 for runners affiliated to a UK athletics running club. To sign up, visit www.epilepsy.org.uk/involved/bradford10k, or call the fundraising team on 0113 210 8800.
