Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting an event called “Relaxation: mind and body”. The aim of the event is to encourage people with epilepsy to have healthy lifestyles and a positive attitude towards living with epilepsy.
It will take place on Saturday 19 May from 10.30am to 4.00pm at Priory Lodge Hall and Priory Park, Avenue Road, Great Malvern. Workshops will be booked on a first come first served basis.
To book a place, or for further information, please call our local services team, on 0113 210 8800. Alternatively, you can book online at: https://shop.epilepsy.org.uk/events/event/relaxation-mind-and-body-malve...
The event is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy. It provides a chance for people with epilepsy to try a range of techniques to help support healthy lifestyles and a positive attitude. There will four zones – try, talk, taster and take.
In the talk zone, there will be an epilepsy advice and information stand where people can talk to others living with the condition.
The taster zone will host massage sessions and other relaxation therapies for stress. In the try zone, there will be workshops including yoga, meditation, and tai chi. In the talk zone, people will be able to talk to others about living with epilepsy in a relaxed and informal setting. The take zone will have information on epilepsy for people to take away. There will also be a picnic in Priory Park.
Mark McDaid, Epilepsy Action’s local services manager for south west England, said: “This event is one of three planned across the three counties. We hope they will help people living with epilepsy to reduce feelings of isolation and self-perceived stigma. By encouraging self-management through lots of different examples of healthy living, we hope people with epilepsy will feel more empowered to take control of their lives.”
