Tea drinkers urged to put the kettle on for chari-tea

6 October, 2011

National charity Epilepsy Action is urging tea drinkers across the UK to put the kettle on as part of National Tea Break 2011.

The event, on Friday 21 October, encourages tea (and coffee) lovers to get together to drink tea, eat cake and raise funds for Epilepsy Action. Since 2003, over 1,000 Tea Breaks have taken place, raising over £100,000 to help fund the vital information and advice services provided by Epilepsy Action.

Everyone who registers to be a National Tea Break organiser will receive an organiser's pack. These will contain an organiser's guide full of useful hints and tips, posters to promote the event, invitation cards, celebrity recipes, and lots more. Downloadable materials can also be found by visiting the official National Tea Break website www.epilepsy.org.uk/teabreak

Michael White, fundraising events officer at Epilepsy Action, said: "This year’s National Tea Break promises to be the biggest yet. The British as a whole are a nation of tea drinkers. We want people nationwide to help us celebrate this very British tradition and host a tea break. You can get together with friends, family and colleagues while raising vital funds for a great cause. Organising a tea break is really easy and can be as big or as small as you wish. If you can't hold a tea break on 21 October, just choose a day that best suits you.”
