Darlington event to support people with epilepsy

31 August, 2012

Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting a seminar for anyone with an interest in epilepsy.

The seminar will take place on Saturday 8 September, from 1.00pm to 3.30pm, at The Dolphin Centre, Horsemarket, Darlington.

Speakers include Catherine Elliott, specialist epilepsy nurse, from James Cook Hospital, Middlesborough. She will be speaking about her work as an epilepsy nurse. Epilepsy Action’s campaigns and policy officer for women and welfare, Nicole Crosby-McKenna, will be speaking about epilepsy, sex and relationships.

Catherine Elliott said: “This is an excellent opportunity to find out more about epilepsy and its management. It is also important for us, as epilepsy specialist nurses, to be able to discuss how we can support people with epilepsy and their carers. I was also pleased to hear that Nicole is speaking about how epilepsy affects relationships as this is an area of epilepsy which can be overlooked.”

The event is free and there is no need to book so just come along.
