Professional stilt walker, Peter Thornett, will be passing through Newcastle at the end of July to meet local people who are invited to come along and support him on his challenge of a lifetime - walking from John O’Groats to Lands End on stilts!
The impressive feat is in aid of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s leading member-led epilepsy charity and F.A.B.L.E (‘For A Better Life with Epilepsy’). Peter’s walk began at John O’Groats in May 2007 and he is aiming to finish in October 2007 at Lands End.
Peter, from Sheffield, says: “My father and I both have epilepsy so I understand what a difference advice and support can make to a family affected by the condition. I hope my challenge will inspire other people with epilepsy and show them that although the condition may change your life, it can sometimes have a positive impact and can drive you to focus on what you enjoy doing!”
He continues: “I’m sure that to many people I must seem mad taking on a challenge like this but it is something that I really want to do. It will be such a great personal achievement and the fact that I can do it for two charities that are very close to my heart makes it all the more worthwhile.”
Peter has been assisted by his friend Laura who will drive his support vehicle. You can sponsor Peter on www.justgiving.com/peterthornett or by texting ‘Epilepsy Stilt’ to 82540 (donation of £3)
The money raised by Peter will help fund vital advice and information services provided by Epilepsy Action, the UK’s leading member-led epilepsy charity, and national charity, F.A.B.L.E who work to improve the lives of those with epilepsy by any charitable means.
