Buxton classical concert for epilepsy charity

24 November, 2009

The High Peak Orchestra is hosting a classical concert in Buxton to raise vital funds to support the Stockport Branch of national charity, Epilepsy Action.

The orchestra will perform music composed by Beethoven, Mozart and Parry at the concert on Saturday 5 December at St John's Church, Buxton. Tickets cost £7 and £6 for concessions, with all proceeds going to Epilepsy Action. The money raised will help to support people living with epilepsy in the area.

Muriel Nichols, secretary of the Stockport Branch of Epilepsy Action, said: "We are delighted that the High Peak Orchestra has agreed to help support the Stockport Branch of Epilepsy Action. We are actively campaigning for the appointment of a much-needed epilepsy specialist nurse in Stockport. The money raised from this event will help our campaign and will help to support people with epilepsy in the Stockport postcode area."

Epilepsy Action has an extensive network of branches throughout the UK. The branches hold regular meetings and offer a variety of social events and informative talks and discussions relating to epilepsy. The meetings offer the opportunity for people to share their experiences of living with epilepsy and also raise awareness of the condition.

The Stockport Branch meets on the first Wednesday of every month at the Friends Meeting House, Cooper Street at 7.00pm. The branch supports people affected by epilepsy across the whole of the SK postcode, not just in Stockport.
