Epilepsy Action on horseback

24 September, 2012

Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting an adventure day for people with epilepsy.

It will take place on Saturday 6 October from 10.00am to 1.00pm (approximately) at Witherslack Hall Equestrian Centre, Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria.

The event is open to people with epilepsy, their families and carers. There will be opportunities to do horse riding, fishing, and walking the fringes of the Lake District. Children and under 18’s can take part but must be accompanied by an adult. Witherslack Equestrian Centre is experienced in working with people with epilepsy. Horses are well mannered with qualified ride leaders and instructors. Bed and breakfast is also available for families. To book rooms, please call 01539 55 22 44.

Cliff Challenger, local services manager for north England, said: “People with epilepsy are often prevented from doing certain activities due to a lack of understanding of their condition. The idea behind this event is to give people with epilepsy, and their families or carers, an opportunity to try something different. Anyone is welcome to get involved with the horse riding, or just come and have a lovely day in some of Britain’s best countryside.”
