Epilepsy Action Speakers Evening in Blackburn and Hyndburn

17 September, 2007

Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity, is holding a presentation on epilepsy on Wednesday September 26 between 7.00pm and 9.00pm. The event will be held at Blackburn Central Library, Northgate Entrance, Blackburn.

Lesley North, epilepsy specialist nurse at the Royal Preston Hospital, will be giving a talk on epilepsy and safety.

Sue Blake, Epilepsy Action’s national manager for regional services says: “People with frequent and unpredictable seizures need to balance safety issues with living as full and active a life as possible. I am sure that Lesley’s presentation will be extremely interesting, informative and useful.”

The evening is open to anyone, whether a person with epilepsy, a parent or carer, family member or friend. Epilepsy Action has an extensive network of branches throughout the UK, which are run by volunteers. Most hold regular meetings and offer a mixture of social events and informative talks and discussions. The meetings also offer the opportunity to talk to people who understand what it is like to live with epilepsy as well as a chance to help raise awareness of epilepsy in the local community.
