On Sunday May 20 Kathleen Roberts from Lowton, Warrington will be helping to bring epilepsy “Out in the Open” with Epilepsy Action by organising a local sponsored walk.
Nationwide, hundreds of people will be taking part in “Out in the Open” sponsored walks to celebrate National Epilepsy Week (20 – 26 May).
The 10K walk will take place at 1:00 pm from Lowton Labour Club to Pennington Flash and then back to the Club.
Kathleen says: “My husband had epilepsy and he sadly died from a stroke in 2002. As a family we like to organise a walk every year in his memory. Last year we raised about £800 so it would be great if this year we could raise even more for Epilepsy Action”
Epilepsy Action needs to recruit as many walkers and walk organisers as possible if it is to reach this year’s fundraising target of £50,000. More information can be found at http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/wongawalks
The money raised will help fund vital advice and information services provided by the charity. Epilepsy Action has a network of branches across the UK and now directly helps more than 550,000 people every year.
