Professionals speak at Preston epilepsy conference

14 October, 2009

The Preston Branch of national charity, Epilepsy Action, is holding a conference on Saturday 31 October to support people with epilepsy.

The conference will take place at Lancashire FA, The County Ground, Thurston Road, Leyland, from 9.30am to 3.30pm.  The event will provide an opportunity for people with epilepsy and their families to update themselves on the latest developments.  It will also provide an opportunity to meet other people with the condition, and to meet Epilepsy Action staff and branch members. Lunch and refreshments will be provided and free information about many aspects of epilepsy will be available.

The conference will cover a range of topics including epilepsy diagnosis and treatment, epilepsy and women and children with epilepsy. Guest speakers include Dr Tahir Majeed, a consultant neurologist at the Royal Preston Hospital and epilepsy specialist nurses, Julie Roach and Jan Bagshaw. Speakers will also speak about their personal experience of living with epilepsy.

Cliff Challenger, regional services manager at Epilepsy Action, said: "The Preston conference is open to anyone with epilepsy or an interest in the condition. It will be a great opportunity for people to find out more about living with epilepsy and the treatments and help available.

"We hope the conference will highlight the fantastic work of Epilepsy Action’s Preston Branch, as well as inform on important issues affecting people living with epilepsy."

Seats are limited, so to book a place contact Cliff Challenger, Epilepsy Action regional services manager for northern England on 01274 640 064 or email cchallenger@epilepsy.org.uk Tickets cost £17, with a reduced rate for concessions and Epilepsy Action members.
