Years of doodling pays off (Waddington, Clitheroe)

23 July, 2007

Kathleen Taylor from Waddington, Lancashire, has been chosen as a winner in this year’s National Doodle Day competition.

National Doodle Day took place earlier this year in aid of Epilepsy Action and the Neurofibromatosis Association. Members of the public were invited to submit doodles into a national competition. The judging of the various categories was carried out by actor, author and Doodle Day Patron, Maureen Lipman. The work of all the winners is displayed in the Hall of Fame at www.nationaldoodleday.org.uk and Kathleen received a certificate signed by Maureen Lipman.

Kathleen says: “I decided to enter the competition because I think both charities are very worthwhile causes. I am a keen doodler and spend my evenings filling endless notebooks with doodles. I love to see a picture that I have created emerge on paper. I am very pleased that all the time I have spent doodling has led me to be a winner of National Doodle Day!”

The event, which included a charity auction of almost 300 celebrity doodles, has raised more than £120,000 over the last four years.
