Burghead Primary School doodle their way to success (Moray, Inverness)

21 September, 2007

Pupils at Burghead School in Moray, Inverness, have been named winners of the Scottish Primary School category in this year’s National Doodle Day competition.

National Doodle Day took place earlier this year in aid of Epilepsy Action and the Neurofibromatosis Association. Members of the public were invited to submit doodles into a national competition. The judging of the various categories was carried out by actor, author and Doodle Day Patron, Maureen Lipman. The work of all the winners is displayed in the Hall of Fame at www.nationaldoodleday.org.uk

The school received a certificate signed by patron, Maureen Lipman, and a Vtech Slim Pad and TV Learning Computer.

Madeline McCutcheon, head teacher at Burghead Primary School said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in National Doodle Day. It was good to see all the children working together to raise awareness and money while creating their own doodles.”

The event, which included a charity auction of almost 300 celebrity doodles, has raised more than £120,000 for the two charities over the last four years
