Ceilidhing for Coppers! (Edinburgh)

17 May, 2007

Mariamne Briggs from Edinburgh will be taking on the challenge of a lifetime in October by trekking the Great Wall of China in aid of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s leading member-led epilepsy charity.

To help towards her fundraising for the expedition Mariamne will be holding various fundraising events in the lead up to the challenge. The first of these is a summer ceilidh held at The Merlin, Morningside on Friday June 1.

Mariamne says: “My eldest sister has had epilepsy since she was 12 and in doing this challenge I wanted to do something positive to raise awareness of the condition. Epilepsy Action does a great deal of work in helping people with epilepsy and their families.”

She continues: “My sister Alice is doing the Great Wall Challenge with me so I can’t wait until we are there, there are some bits I am nervous about though such as walking the 1,000 steps of Mutinayu. But at the moment I am just looking forward to spending the evening ceilidhing!”

The money raised by Mariamne will help fund vital advice and information services provided by the charity. Epilepsy Action has a network of branches across the UK and now directly helps more than 550,000 people every year.
