Dashing to the Finish Line for Epilepsy (East Lothian)

27 September, 2007

Alison McLeod from Longniddry, East Lothian is taking part in this year’s BUPA Great North Run in aid of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation.

The race, which is the world’s biggest half marathon, will take place on Sunday 30 September, starting in Newcastle and finishing 13.1 miles later in South Shields.

Alison, whose daughter has epilepsy, says: “I’m really looking forward to doing something to help not only my daughter, but others who live with the condition. I’m running with my brother, friend and mother, and can’t wait to start running and get caught up in the atmosphere!”

She continues “Epilepsy Action have been really helpful to both me and my daughter – we’ve used their helpline and found their Epilepsy Today magazine really useful. I’m hopefully going to raise at least £275.”

The money raised by Alison will help fund vital advice and information services provided by Epilepsy Action, which directly helps more than 660,000 people every year. The charity has a network of branches across the UK and an award-winning website, www.epilepsy.org.uk
