Epilepsy Action Branch Member Of The Year Award

6 July, 2010

Colette McCool, stalwart of the Foyle Branch of Epilepsy Action, has won a national award in recognition of her work for the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

The Epilepsy Action Branch Member of the Year Award was presented to Colette by Ena Bingham, an Epilepsy Action trustee, at the branch’s end of season dinner on Tuesday 29 June at the City Hotel, Derry.

Colette, a dedicated member of the Foyle Branch, has been active in helping those with epilepsy through her devoted commitment to Epilepsy Action and its work.

Ena Bingham said: “Colette has been treasurer of the branch for the past four years.  She has been very conscientious in her role and is always there to help current and new members of the branch. Colette has worked with Morina Clarke, regional services manager for Northern Ireland, to keep the branch running during a time when other officer posts were vacant.  She is involved in not only arranging monthly meetings, but by being an accredited volunteer and helping at events such as information days and seminars. Colette deserves this award in recognition of her ongoing commitment to Epilepsy Action”.

Colette said: “I feel privileged to receive this award and am grateful to members of Foyle branch, who also work to improve awareness and understanding of epilepsy for nominating me”.

Epilepsy Action Foyle Branch meetings are open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.  There are opportunities to access detailed information about living with the condition and to learn how to get involved in raising epilepsy awareness in the area.
